A Restaurant for the Health-Conscious Curry Connoisseur
Khichidi Indian Restaurant is a Henley Beach venue with a menu that’s mostly keto-friendly, dairy-free, gluten-free, or vegan. It’s a unique approach to Indian food that still results in those heady flavours we know and love. EatClub is in full favour of this nutritious twist!
The Tandoori Prawns Salad is one of the hero dishes. It’s fitting; Khichidi sits just metres from the seaside. The prawns are cooked in the tandoor and they’re served with fresh salad and a creamy mango dressing. The Tandoori Chicken is ever so tender and the battered Amritsari Fish is crisp and delicately spiced.The clever kids menu features dishes such as I’m Not Hungry (fried fish and chips) and I Don’t Want That (cheese naan with dips and papadums).
Not only are you always in control over the spice levels here, you can even create your own curry. Choose a meat and a sauce such as korma, vindaloo, kadai or saag. Sop up the remaining sauce with roti, naan (or a cheese and spinach naan?) and calm your mouth inferno with a side of coconut yoghurt.Servings are as big as the menu, which covers a range of nourishing curry options – try the Eggplant Curry, Butter Chicken or Chana Masala, a dish made up of chickpeas cooked in a spicy masala.
Just remember to save some room for dessert. There are seasonal vegan desserts as well as Gulab Jamun, and mango or pistachio Kulfi. We’ll stop now …
