When the city feels a little stiff, some of us find ourselves dreaming of an uplifting environment to engage in a bit of banter and to devour some comforting soul food. Not far from Adelaide’s Rundle Mall, amid office buildings and multi-storey carparks, is Ayla’s Cafe – a family-run 100% vegetarian cafe. EatClub has just welcomed this homely cafe to the platform.
Ayla is the head chef of Ayla’s Cafe. She learnt to cook in Iran so a lot of the food is Middle Eastern-inspired, although she doesn’t let that limit her menu. Japanese stir-fry and curry with rice and dahl also feature on the menu. The focus is predominately on health. Their family believes that you’ve got to eat healthy to be healthy.
Ayla’s Cafe makes plenty of vegan burgers and wraps and a Vegan Stuffed Eggplant which, according to Ayla’s son Mohamed, is a favourite among the regulars.
As well as organic coffee from South Australian roaster Tony D’Angelo, they offer a warming selection of teas and an uplifting selection of juices and smoothies. Step into Ayla’s Cafe to relax among the earthy colours of the cafe’s interior and enjoy some full-of-goodness dishes made with love.
