Life’s a Beach at Barzura.

Overlooking the scallop-shaped bay of Coogee is much-loved Barzura, an alfresco-style cafe that’s been a hit since the early ‘90s. There, you’ll find cheery locals popping in and out, giving a friendly wave to the barista, calling them by their first name. It’s just that kind of place; they’re now serving the kids of the kids they served in the ‘90s. This iconic Coogee spot has joined the EatClub platform.

According to one of the owners, twenty four years ago a couple walked in with their new born baby boy for a coffee and he’s spent every birthday there since. Offering banquets and set menus, hearty breakfast and lunches and outstanding dinners, it’s very easy to understand why Coogee locals adore Barzura.

The menu is very broad, but everything they do is done with conviction. You could opt for Bloody Marys and baked eggs for brekkie, or you could go down the fruity, grainy road with smoothies and granola. You could even have an Asian breakfast: congee with free range chicken, chilli, ginger, coriander and garlic, or Nasi Goreng.

Speaking of which, the drinks list is cocktail-rich and features plenty of Aussie beers and wines.

For little ones, Barzura offers classics such as gnocchi or fish and chips, but if your kid is a bit more health conscious, they could order grilled fish or crumbed free-range chicken on a bed of edamame, cucumber & tomato.Barzura | CoogeeBarzura | CoogeeBarzura is an uplifting, family-friendly place to venture out for a morning coffee with a view, an evening sundowner or a cosy dinner with a hearty dish and a bold red.
