A convenient cafe with a taste for indulgent details…
With lots of natural light, killer coffee and hearty meals, EatClub partner Charlie Cox East Melbourne appeals to nine-to-fivers, footy-goers, families and afternoon book readers. It’s conveniently located across from the MCG, and in between Fitzroy Gardens and Bridge Road.Charlie Cox‘s well-constructed yet unpretentious menu is seasonal but the Melbourne brekkie staples remain. You’ll be able to get your go-to, and then some. Porridge, Smashed Avocado and Fruit Toast all feature, with subtly unique variations. We whole-heartedly recommend the Waffles and this may or may not have everything to do with the Oreo dust that’s sprinkled on top.
For lunch, it’s hard not to order the Pork & Veal Meatballs: meaty goodness braised in tomato sugo with fontina mash. The Crispy Pork Belly comes with sauerkraut, pickled turnip and pear jus. The pork belly features in the Crispy Pot Burger too and is nestled with American cheese, beetroot slaw, chipotle aioli and BBQ sauce. In the evening, you’ll find everything from a Lamb Souvlaki to a Spaniard Pizza to a Pulled Lamb Saffron Cauliflower Salad. You’ll no doubt find yourself a suitable drink for your occasion, with a huge (mostly Australian) wine list and a vast array of beers, ciders and cocktails.
