Sweet Tooths Beware
Om Nom Kitchen on Flinders Lane shows how luxury can become decadent. Adelphi Hotel has become the world’s first dessert hotel, with their kitchen centring all dishes around dessert. Quite frankly, these dishes look like art. But this isn’t just a result of the craze of ‘Instagrammable’ dishes that are at times actually unappetising, these dishes are created by executive chef Jo Ward, who has worked alongside award-winning chefs in Michelin-starred restaurants. Her dishes are dessert experiences, not just something sweet to savour at the end of a meal. EatClub is thrilled to welcome Om Nom Kitchen to the platform, not just for their incredible desserts, but also for their signature cocktails to be enjoyed in their sweet wonderland for adults.
Jo Ward creates whimsical dishes that taste as good as they look — dishes that are capable of engaging all of the senses. Somehow, she makes the process of it look like a piece of cake. She has such a creative flair and exceptional skills which result in culinary works of art. Her philosophy on dessert is far from traditional as she incorporates savoury ingredients into sweet dishes and designs small ‘savoury’ share plates like Parmesan Panna Cotta Crostinis and larger mains like Chocolate Venison with seared venison loin, beetroot, goats curd and valrhona chocolate jus. We know. Sensational.
A standout dessert dish is the Sticks & Stones with charcoal passionfruit pebbles, black sesame, hazelnut custard and bark, soil and twigs made from chocolate and the Autumn in Japan which features valrhona dulcey and popcorn parfait, miso caramel, and mandarin and yuzo sorbet. There is an option for degustation, which is a great way to experience all of the Om Nom Kitchen favourites. This is of course best enjoyed with a carefully crafted, theatrical cocktail like the Hubba Bubba Martini or a Toasted Pecan Negroni.
Step into a fantasy where art is not just edible, but it tastes just as good to the palette as it looks on the plate.
